Part 1: How to get to Kristiansand or Grimstad

Q: How do I get to Kristansand and Grimstad?

A: Grimstad

 

By Air:

Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik (KRS), is situated about 40 kilometres from Grimstad. The airport offers daily international connections to Amsterdam and Copenhagen. In addition, there are daily connections to Norwegian cities, such as Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger. More information and schedules are available here.

There are regular airport buses from the airport to Grimstad and the trip takes 50 minutes and cost about NOK 100 for students. For schedules, check this page.

 

Oslo Torp (TRF) is situated about 180 kilometres from Grimstad. The airport offers daily international connections to many European cities, such as London, Warsaw, Milano and Amsterdam. Cheap airlines, such as www.ryanair.com and www.wizzair.com have daily schedules to Torp. More information is available here.

Many bus companies operate between Torp and Grimstad and the trip takes about 2,5 hours and cost around NOK 200 for students. The following bus company has one scheduled bus per day straight from Torp Airport to Grimstad a day: www.laprisekspressen.no. These bus companies have several buses a day from Fokserød (about 3 kilometres from the airport, a local bus is available, otherwise take a taxi): www.nor-way.no and www.konkurrenten.no

 

By Ferry:

Color Line (all year) and Fjordline (summer only) offers frequent departures between Hirtshals (DK) and Kristiansand. Travelling by boat may be less expensive than travelling by air, and you have a larger luggage allowance. The Kristiansand bus terminal is next to the ferry terminal and there are frequent buses to Campus Grimstad.

 

By Car:

For driving instructions to Grimstad from any of the main cities, please consult one of the many route planners, such as this one or Google maps. 
Campus Grimstad is easily accessible and well signposted from the main road. Parking is free, both on campus and outside the student accommodation.

 

 

B: Kristiansand

By air:

Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik (KRS) , is situated about 12 kilometres from the centre of Kristiansand. The airport offers international connections to Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Gdansk. In addition, there are daily connections to Norwegian cities, such as Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger. 

There are regular airport buses into the central bus station (Rutebilstasjonen) and the trip takes about 30 minutes and costs NOK 60 for students. More information about bus-schedules from Kjevik Airport to Kristiansand bus station: http://www.akt.no/english/ . Type in "Kjevik Lufthavn" and "Bus station (Kristiansand)".

Be aware that if you decide to take the bus 35, it will have another bus stop than the express-busses. 

 

Oslo Torp (TRF) is situated about 220 kilometres from Kristiansand. The airport offers daily international connections to many European cities, such as Amsterdam, London, Bucharest, Gdańsk, Katowice, Lublin, Poznań, Riga, Skopje, Szczecin, Vilnius, Warsaw-Chopin and Wrocław. Low cost airlines, such as www.ryanair.com and www.wizzair.com have daily schedules to Torp. More information available here.

Many bus companies operate between Torp and Kristiansand and the trip takes about 3,5 hours and cost around NOK 200 for students.  The buses operate from "Fokserød" (about 3 kilometres from the airport, a local bus is available, otherwise take a taxi) www.nor-way.no www.laprisekspressen.no and www.konkurrenten.no

 

By Ferry:

By Rail:

Kristiansand is a main station on the train line between Oslo and Stavanger. For schedules and prices, please consult www.nsb.no

 

 

 

Part 2: How to get to the Meeting Point

 

Campus Kristiansand

 

Q: How do I get from the airport to the Bus station?

A:

 

Only on Saturdays: When going from Kjevik to the Kristiansand bus station you CAN ONLY use the bus 35 or a taxi.  The airport express-buses do not run on Saturdays. Be aware that bus 35 uses another bus stop than the express-busses.

Any other Day: Express-buses are going from straight outside the main building. Bring your student ID to get a student discount (though you can go on the 35-bus if you want).

Part 3: How do i find the Buddies when I am at the meeting point

Q: How do I find the Buddies at the meeting point when I arrive by Train/Bus/Ferry?

A: In Kristiansand we are in the Bus Terminal building, you will easily see us when you get inside. Look at the overhead map. Tips: Print it out/save the picture.

Q: How do i recognize the Buddies when we arrive?
A: ESN Buddies wear purple t-shirts with white text saying "BUDDY!". You can always approach and ask any buddy if you wonder about something. A picture of a typical buddy is shown below.
